Easy badge / CI Badge FAQ's
1. Can a user create or change a badge design on their own or is that done only through CI Solutions?
We recommend customers consult with a CI Solutions trained technician for badge design or changes because card designs have been tailored to each and every customer's specific application need. However, if you wish to make changes on your own, please refer to our software manual which can be downloaded from our website.
2. How can I create another data entry field to contain a specific value?
A new data entry field can be created by going to the "Settings" menu from the ID software’s data entry screen and clicking on the "Custom Field" tab. Double click on the next available field and enter your new field title in the box titled “ Provide a label for the field”. Continue by choosing the type of field you wish to add.
3. Why can I not see the "Settings" menu button?
The "Settings" menu will only be available if the password account that is used to log into Easy Badge/CI Badge allows permission to access the menu. If the option is not available, consult an administrator or supervisor.
4. I need to generate a report for specific members, employees, students, etc.
A report can be generated by clicking the "Reports" option button from the data entry screen. Within the Reports Module, select the type of report you need and click on the "Run Report” button. After entering the required dates, another window will open for the user to enter specific fields and values to sort and generate a customized report.

Operators can be created/edited/deleted within the "Settings" menu accessed from the data entry screen. Then choose the "Operators" tab. When creating a new operator account, a security level must be selected along with a new password.
6. I forgot my log-in name and password. Is there a default log-in name and password for Easy Badge/CI Badge software?
The default login name is "ci" and the password is "badge." If that does not work, please consult an administrator. If no account works at all, please contact CI Solutions’ Technical Support.
7. How can I register my ID badge software?
Contact CI Solutions’ Technical Support and have the system ID number available.
8. When attempting to run the Easy Badge/CI Badge software an error: 0203 is generated.
Error: 0203 is generated when a user account logs onto the workstation/laptop with a user account that does not have Power User or Administrator User rights. Contact your administrator or call CI Solutions’ Technical Support.
9. After logging into the Easy Badge/CI Badge software and clicking OK, an “Action Failed” window pops up.
When an “Action Failed” window appers, most likely a file for the program has been corrupted, missing, or altered from its original state. Contact CI Solutions’ Technical Support.
Camera FAQ's
1. I’m not getting live video to display on the screen and the screen is black.
When the screen is black, verify that the lens cap is removed, the camera has power (a light should be visible on the back of the camera), the camera iris is not closed (the iris is located on the camera lens), and all devices including the all cables are securely attached from camera to the computer.
If all of the above are correct, go into the “Settings” menu from the data entry screen and click the “Misc” tab.
JVC Camera - Make sure the following settings are selected:
A. Under “Select Method of Image Capture”, select “Live Video”.
B. Under “Select Image Capture Device”, select “Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32)”.
C. Under “Select Video Source”, select “Composite” from the drop down menu. You should see live video.
ValCam Camera – Make sure the following settings are selected:
A. Under “Select Method of Image Capture”, select “”Twain”.
B. Under “Select Image Capture Device”, select “ValCam USB Twain 2.1”.
C. Click on “Test Twain Interface”. You should see live video.
2. The Live video feed is either showing up too bright or too dark.
JVC Camera - The amount of light emitted into the camera can be controlled by adjusting the iris on the lens, which is located towards the back of the lens. If this does not correct your problem, from the data entry screen click on the “Settings” tab. Click the “Misc” tab and then click “Source Menu”. Click on the “Device Settings” tab and adjust accordingly. You can return to your original settings by clicking on the “Default” button.
ValCam Camera - The amount of light emitted into the camera can be adjusted by going to the “Settings” menu form the data entry screen and clicking on the “Misc” tab. Then click on the “Test Twain Interface” tab and adjust while in live video.
3. The iris is open on the JVC camera, but the live video still shows dark.
The problem could be the lighting in the room itself. We recommend the JVC camera be used in the well lit room, preferably with a white back drop or a light colored wall. Note: the JVC cameras do not have flash capabilities. We do not recommend shooting into an open room while taking pictures because the camera will try to focus on the person and on the background at the same time and you will get a less than desirable result.
4. When trying to take a picture with the JVC Camera, the window is green.
If you get a green screen, check the camera settings within the “Settings” menu in the “Misc.” tab. Click the “Format Menu” button and make sure that the correct resolution which is 320x240 is selected.
